High School Tag
My mom tagged me so here goes…
1. DID YOU DATE SOMEONE FROM YOUR SCHOOL? Several someones, there was Jake Wing (yuck), Jason Allred, Doug Parson, Kevin Anderson and some other guys that were already out of high school.
2. WHAT KIND OF CAR DID YOU DRIVE? I was the proud owner of a p.o.s. red 1985 chevy cavalier.
3. DID YOU PASS YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE TEST YOUR FIRST TRY? No, I took the easiest test they offered and failed. Then next test I got was the hardest and didn’t miss any. Go figure.
4. WERE YOU A PARTY ANIMAL? Um, if I’m being honest I was kinda wild in high school.
5. WERE YOU CONSIDERED A FLIRT? I am not really sure, I know I flirted but I really don’t know how I was perceived as far as flirting went.
6. WERE YOU IN BAND, ORCHESTRA, OR CHOIR? No the musical fairy passed me by when I was born so I was the musical outcast of the family.
7. WERE YOU A NERD? Absolutely! I had plenty of people confirm my suspicions. Being a nerd never bothered me though.
8. WERE YOU ON ANY VARSITY TEAMS? No, the sports talent fairy passed me by as well.
9. DID YOU EVER GET SUSPENDED/EXPELLED? Yes, I was suspended my senior year for three days and banished to my Grandparents house in Orangeville to wait out my sentence. I had sluffed 25 too many times in one quarter. I was also almost kicked out of school in January of my senior year but by some miracle I was allowed to do a home bound program and continue my education at home and allowed to graduate so that I would never have to look back and deal with high school again. (thanks mom for helping me get past that part of my life)
10. CAN YOU STILL SING THE FIGHT SONG? No I didn’t attend enough assemblies or games to learn it.
11. WHO WERE YOUR FAVORITE TEACHERS? Mr. Taylor, Coach Gressman, Mrs. Carrillo, Mr. Thompson.
12. WHERE DID YOU SIT FOR LUNCH? My friends and I always left campus and went to Wendy’s or to Gas-n-Go. Most of the time we didn’t eat though.
13. WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL'S FULL NAME? ---
14. WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL'S MASCOT AND COLORS? Dinos Blue, White
15. DID YOU GO TO HOMECOMING AND WITH WHO? No, missed that dance every year.
16. IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN WOULD YOU? HELL, NO!
17. WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER MOST ABOUT GRADUATION? That I walked across the stage the rest is pretty fuzzy.
18. WHERE DID YOU GO SENIOR SKIP DAY? I stayed at home in bed.
19. WERE YOU IN ANY CLUBS? no
20. HAVE YOU GAINED SOME WEIGHT SINCE THEN? When I graduated I weighed 85lbs I now weigh a lot more. I am tipping the scales at 117
21. WHO WAS YOUR PROM DATE? My junior year I went with Jason Allred and my senior year I went with Adam Bakelar
22. ARE YOU PLANNING ON GOING TO YOUR 10 YEAR REUNION? I accidentally missed my ten year reunion I wrote down the wrong date. But I had every intention of going. I don’t know if I would have actually had the guts to go or not there are a few people that I would be afraid of running into and not knowing what to say to them.
23. DID YOU HAVE A JOB IN HIGH SCHOOL? Yes I worked at the old Milky Way until it closed between my jr and sr year and then I worked at Mont Harmon as an office aide for half the year until I was home bound and then the superintendent wouldn’t let me keep working.

Rock Collecting

In September Izzy woke up one morning and wanted to go outside and find some rocks to add to her collection. I thought it might be fun to take her somewhere new to collect rocks so we headed to the hills with Derek and grandma. We brought ziploc bags for collecting our finds in, while we were there we discovered cactus growing everywhere. The first cactus that we came to I stopped all the kids and pointed it out and told them all that we needed to watch out for the poky cactus because it would hurt them if they stepped on it. That was all it took, every cactus we came across the 3 kids crowded around the dusty green plants and Izzy would tell the two babies to stay away and the babies would point and say "poky, poky!" Although Izzy found lots of rocks for her collection the expedition turned out to be more of a cactus hunt for the other two. It was a great day!

Is this cat real?

Emma has found a new friend down at my mom's house, it's the neighbors male kitten and it loves Emma. Anytime she is at my mom's she stands on the porch and yells "white baby!" as loud as she can and the cat comes running as fast as it can. Here is a video of their favorite past time together, keep in mind when you watch it that they have sat like this for hours. Enjoy!

oops! the video was to big to load--so look at the pictures instead. she sits and bounces the kitten for a half hour at a time. It never loses it's patience.

Favorite Halloween?

We have been obsessing about Halloween at my house for the last 4 weeks and will continue until the the 5th of November. Why you ask. I am in charge of the Halloween Carnival at Creekview again this year. I decided to get an early start this year so my family is terribly tired of Halloween already. But it happens to be my favorite holiday so with this blog I would like to hear back from everyone about what your favorite Halloween has been.
Looking back over the years I have fond memories about many of my dressing up escapades. I remember very vividly dressing up as a barbie in a skin tight full body suit and ratted my hair up just like a barbie and the rockers, one year I dressed as a shower complete with balloon bubbles, a "cereal" killer and a very cute care bear.
I remember hosting my very first Halloween party. I worked so hard to make everything perfect. I went so far as to carve a pumpkin then fill it with dry ice a little water for a center piece. We watched scary movies and played silly games. It was great.
Another memory of dressing up that I have didn't happen on Halloween. Kerstina, Amie, Shaniel and I dressed up as old men and old ladies (clothes courtesy of G-ma and G-pa Bates). Then Grandma talked us into going down to main street. Grandma found Mekette and her friends and turned us loose to humiliate her. I'm sure it worked, and I hope one day Mekette will find it in her to forgive us, but we sure had fun!!!!! Thanks Grandma!

So I've decided that blogging is really hard to keep up on when you don't own a computer. I don't know if I'll update very often but I will try and get a computer in the next little while so that I can really join in the fun. I have really enjoyed visiting each of your blogs and thanks so much for the invites that I have recieved! It has been great reading about all the things every one is doing! I will keep checking yours as frequently as I can.
For the frequently asked question about my cakes. I have started selling cakes to friends and family, and mostly Kevin's co-workers. I have sold several wedding cakes and the birthday cake business is picking up. I did six in July but not a whole lot since then. One day I dream of owning a wedding reception center that has a full service bakery. I can dream big right. I will have to find a minute in the next week and post about our fun outings that we had in September.
