I am working through the Holiday season so I don't know how often I will be able to blog (weep, weep) so I thought I'd take a minute and do one post for the month.
Ode to Christmas Shopping
I think Christmas shopping so very stressful
trying to find something to make everyone blissful
It gives me a headache, it takes lots of time,
and everyone's response, "oh, it's just fine."
So this year I'm ready to throw in the towel
and give in to my mood that I admit's rather foul.
My kids will get coal, my husband an old jeep,
And me, well I think I'll just go to sleep!
Really I love Christmas and I love finding unique things that people love. I just wasn't feeling well today.
I would like to invite everyone to write a little something about Christmas and help try to change my opinion. Hopefully I will have a minute to post a more cheerful message next week!
Merry Stinkin' Christmas!

Love your new look!
The poem is great--totally catches Christmas. Hope you get to enjoy most of it.
Oh I forgot--I was supposed to write something to help change your outlook. Remember we are planning a trip to look at the lights and see the Joseph Smith film at the legacy theater during Christmas Break. That should give you something to look forward to. And--there is always Christmas Eve, that's always fun, the best day of the year.
Tonight was the Saturday meeting for Stake Conferance. It was a wonderful meeting. One talk was on motherhood and being guided by inspiration. I wish all mothers could have heard it. She told a story of one day yelling at one of her daughters, she said she kept going on and on. Finally her daughter said, " MOM! you were the one who signed up for this. She said it totally put things in perspective as a mother.
But the most wonderful part of the meeting was at the end. The closing song was Silent Night. There was one lady playing the organ, another on piano, and one playing the violin. They played an interlude that was beautiful. When the congregation started singing it was so beautiful and the spirit so strong I couldn't get a word out or my emotions would have been out of control so I didn't sing but sat and listened to all the beautiful parts of alto, saprano, tenor and bass from the congregation and listened to the words. Never has the third verse seemed so strong to me. "Son of God, loves pure light radiant beams from they holy face. With the dawn of redeeming grace. Jesus Lord, at they birth."
In this time of turmoil in the world how grateful I am for the Savior who will redeem us from our sins.
It was a wonderful begining to my Christmas season. I was so caught up in all the doings. It was so good to feel the spirit and turn my thoughts to the Savior.
I hope you have a better day tomarrow. We all have those days that just plan stink.
That picture is so dang cute!!!!
I love your picture. What a darling family. I am having a bad week myself so I can't really give you any good advice. I am broke this week! I hate it when I don't have any money! I'll get back with you next week.
I love that family picture! Who took it?
I've found Christmas shopping is a lot less stressful if you start in July and pace yourself. That is what worked for me this year. It has made it so that I've got less to stress over, and more time to enjoy the holiday season. I hope you get feeling better!
Heidi,
Interesting thing I might share with you. On Sunday the stake President talked and in his talk he said that at last night's meeting how forceful the third verse in Silent Night had touched his heart. Several other people mentioned it also. I had writted on your site Saturday after the meeting. I believe the spirit was teaching us.
I love that family picture you have! You must have some Christmas spirit in you ;) because your blog is so festive! Merry Christmas!
What a sweet family picture... four girls and a boy! Maybe things are a little stinky right now, but I bet it won't be long until the Christmas spirit kicks in. Start with a smile and "I love life" first thing in the morning, and then count all your blessings and soon you will see how just lucky you really are! Aunt Carol
Hey Heidi. I hope things aren't stinking around your house anymore. LOL. Anyways, you should have been in Relief Society on Sunday (I know you are in primary) but that started my season out right! Im sooo excited, i'll come by and share some excitement with you! :)
I'll play--I spent 10 years working in retail at christmas!!!
Christmas stinks! Busy, broke, bitter, and barely able to drag my butt out of bed in the morning. That's what Christmas means to me. Too much work, too much money, and too much merry cheer. Maybe all I want for christmas is to shut myself in my house and forget that this stupid holiday exists!
How was that :)
Mostly, I do love christmas, but not for commercial reasons. that is too cliche, but it's true.
TTFN
Just remember to swear at the tree. It always makes my holiday a little brigher.
cute family picture! I love to shop for Christmas. I start planning in July. I shop the days after Thanksgiving. So fun!
I love the picture. That should be enough to make your life bright. Just remember they grow so fast. Soon their childhoods are gone, so cherish every moment. As far as Chistmas goes, don't lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON. Things have a way of taking care of themselves, didn't they Christmas was fun. By the way, love your poetry, you are very talented
Love Ya Gram
